Abstract:

This report describes trends in key population, family planning, and health indicators in Tanzania over the past three decades. The promary objective is to assist policy makers and program administrators in assessing the current situation and in formulating future population, family planning, and maternal and child health programs. In particular, the report addresses the prevailing demographic situation and describes trends in fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, infant and child mortality, and knowledge of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
