KATHMANDU: The Health Ministry is focusing on first 1000 days – 280 days in mother's womb and the succeeding 730 days following the birth of a child – to improve the status of malnutrition.

The initiative comes in the wake of findings of the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS)-2011 that showed a nominal change in malnutrition status.
